1. W: Richard, are you on duty today?
M: Not me. I remember Tony said it was your turn, Anna.
M: Oops, I forgot it. He was right.
2. W: Have you finished your homework? Let’s go out for a walk.
M: Not yet. Can you wait for another ten minutes.
W: Of course. The two magazines can kill my time.
3.W: The sun has come out. I hope it won’t rain again.
M: I hope so. It won’t be enjoyable if we have a picnic in the rain.
4. W: I’d like to order the most popular pizza.
M: OK, it’s the ham and mushroom pizza. May I know your address?
W: Oh, yes. Room 202 in Hilton Hotel.
M: Got it. It will be sent there in 15 minutes.
5. W: Excuse me, can you spare one minute?
M: Sure. How can I help you then?
W: Do you mind taking a picture of me in front of the building?
M: Not at all. But I don’t know how the camera works.
Girl: Andrew, what kind of jobs do you prefer?
Boy: I’m not sure. Maybe a designer, a painter or an art teacher.
Girl: Which do you like best?
Boy: Well, I really want to be an art teacher but designers usually get higher payment. And I think painters feel lonely all the time. What do you think Kate?
Girl: That’s true. And art teachers are usually popular among students. To tell you the truth, I want to be a music teacher for this reason.
Hello. My name is Jane. I’m from the US. I’ve been an exchange student here for 3 months. I like traveling, and I spent almost every weekend visiting different places. In China, traveling by train is a common way to visit new places and go back to one’s hometown during holidays. But I had never traveled by train until I came to China. My first trip by train was from Beijing to Tianjin by high-speed train. It was amazing how quickly I could get there—just half an hour. Since then, I’ve taken the train to lots of other cities such as Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chengdu. People on the train are usually friendly and happy to chat. It’s always a good time on the train.
W: Mike, have you got anything to do for the weekend?
M: Yeah, my friends and I are going skiing and sandboarding.
W: I know skiing, but what’s sandboarding?
M: It’s like snowboarding. It just takes place on the sand.
W: Sounds a bit dangerous! I’m planning to be out too.
M: Where are you going?
W: I’m taking my daughter to the zoo.
M: Kids like going there!
W: Exactly!I have been there once, It is our second time to go. I think maybe there will be a third try some day!
M: Haha! Mom knows their kids best! Anyway, hope you can enjoy your weekend!
W: Thanks! The same to you!
Man: Good afternoon, Lucy! I heard you went to Shanghai the other day. Did you have a good trip?
Woman: Good afternoon, Jeffery. Actually, I went there for an interview.
Man: What kind of interview was it?
Woman: It was a job interview. I’m waiting for the result now.
Man: Hope you get the job. Did you take the fast train to Shanghai?
Woman: I meant to but the tickets were sold out. So I had to take the plane.
Man: Planes are quite expensive. How much did the ticket cost?
Woman: Usually about 600 yuan but luckily I booked a special ticket which is 200 cheaper.
Man: Wow! How lucky you were!
