World Water Day, held on 22 March every year since 1993, is an annual United Nations Observance focusing on the importance of freshwater.
世界水日（World Water Day）为每年的3月22日，宗旨是唤起公众的节水意识，加强水资源保护。每年的“世界水日”，各个国家地区都会举办一些关于“水资源”的宣传活动，以提高公众节水的意识。
World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.
为满足人们日常生活、商业和农业对水资源的需求，联合国长期以来致力于解决因水资源需求上升而引起的全球性水危机。1977年召开的“联合国水事会议”，向全世界发出严重警告：水不久将成为一个深刻的社会危机，石油危机之后的下一个危机便是水。1993年1月18日，第四十七届联合国大会作出决议，确定每年的3月22日为“世界水日”。
2024年3月22日是第三十二届“世界水日”，3月22日-28日是第三十七届“中国水周” [19]，联合国确定2024年“世界水日”主题为“Water for peace”（以水促和平）。
