Step 1 Class Opening
In my opinion, to begin a lesson with a song is a good way. We’d better find a song which is connected to the latest topic, or include some new words we learned. We have to attract all the students’ attention. Tell our students we are beginning an English lesson not a Chinese or a math lesson instead. Students need to be engaged in an English environment. That means the whole classrooms must be filled with English songs, English words English posters not others.
Step 2 New concepts
While we are giving our new lessons. A variety of real objects, body languages can be used to teach the new words. But too much time on the new words or phases can not make you fulfill the task. So just scan or read a little about them, then quickly go to the dialogue or text. In order to make the perform easy, we have to remember: Act it out before the students do it. For example: first you and one or two top students sets an example in the front, T---S1/S2, then Ss and Ss practice, at last S1---S2 show it out
Step 3 Task to-be Activity
Step 2 serves for steps. After the words-study and the dialog-practice, we have to put the emphasis on the task. The purposes are to reinforce vocabulary and the useful expressions. So pair work or group work is necessary. Also the teachers are asked to act it out first., Then Ss---Ss practice, students show is at the last. That is called Presentation---- Practice----- production. The
Posters, tasks, forms and other “productions” can be shown on the wall of the class room. This kind of sense of achievement will develop motivation for further learning. So make sure that your lesson is enjoyable and memorable. Enjoying learning is likely to lead to success. While success will make learning more enjoyable.
Step 4 Class closing
To end a lesson with a song or a game is a happy way. Remember to assign some research work connected to your topic. You can ask them to search for some information in the net/ newspaper or books. Or have a discussion about the coming holiday in groups.
The purpose is to involve all of them all the time engage in English research, not always the written work. Maybe so much written work gets them boring.
